On July 11, a tragic incident unfolded in northeast Central African Republic (CAR) where a United Nations peacekeeper from Rwanda lost their life in an attack on their patrol, as confirmed by the U.N.

The assault occurred approximately 3 km (1.86 miles) away from the town of Sam-Ouandja. The U.N. statement reports that three of the attackers were neutralized, while one assailant was captured.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper, as we acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice exhibited in the pursuit of peace.
